About me and this blog

Hello everyone !

I love travelling and exploring new countries. I’ve spent a few months in Galapagos Islands during summer 2011 and that was the beginning of my passion for travelling. After that, I visited some places around Europe (Denmark, Holland, France, Croatia, Hungary, Iceland, Sweden, the UK, Germany, …), went to South-East Asia (Borneo, Singapore, Malaysia) and spent 2 months in the US for a road trip of a lifetime ! I’m approaching 30 years-old and I’m a late bloomer when it comes to travelling, but I’ll make it up :-)

One silly thing about myself is that I love planning, and I actually enjoy it as much as doing the trip  ;-) I love reading about the destinations I choose and learning about the country. I like taking pictures of flowers and visiting botanical gardens. I love nature in general and I’m not a museum person… most of the time :-) I love diving as well :-)

If you wonder about the name of my blog (like many bloggers), there is actually a story behind it. So, like I mentioned above, I’ve realized my dream in 2011 : going to the Galapagos islands for a conservation project. For that trip, I’ve created a blog called, “Darwin on the rocks”. “Darwin”, in reference to the evolutionary theory, because it’s where everything began, and “on the rocks” because the header of my blog at that time was an iguana laying on a rock. In 2014, I’ve decided to create this  blog about Iceland. At that time, it was called “Beautiful Iceland” like in the url, but then, I thought I would like to include all my travels (not only about Iceland) and I altered the title a little and it became “Darwin on the rocks… and around the world”, as reference to my first blog. You know everything about the title now !!

I live in Leeds (West Yorkshire, UK) with my boyfriend, Seeingthrough35mm.

Recently, I’ve started to create jewellery inspired by science and my travels. If you want to have a look, click on the link below

It is quite easy to find your way in the blog. There is a menu for each destination, then some sub-menus and categories. Don’t be afraid to explore a bit. If you have any suggestions, don’t hesitate and go to the contact page in the main menu !

All photographs are my property, and it would be greatly appreciated to credit me if you use them. However, reblogs are very welcome and you don’t need to ask my permission for them :-)
