  1. I stumbled upon this post almost a year late. :) And I chuckled when I read London Caller’s comment. I’d read somewhere that Wallace had come up with the theory of Evolution around the same time as Darwin. But published it a little late. :) You know how it is with these theories, hard to say what’s fact and what’s myth. I bought a book on the Evolution Theory a year back. Haven’t got to reading it. Loved your interview and your shots. I so want to go to the Galapagos!

    • All the theories have the same problem, it’s difficult to attribute the right paternity because people can come with the same ideas in different places and the communication was not the same as these days. Now, it’s very common to have collaboration when something new happens.

I really want to go back as well but I wonder if it will be the same. A lot of things have changed in 5 years (new hotel, developments) and I fear to be disappointed.

    • Thanks for the nomination, I feel flattered. but like i always say, your comments and support is awesome enough :-)

Unfortunately, I don’t have time to answer to awards and I prefer to spend this time visiting and commenting on other blogs, don’t take it personally. I still appreciated the fact of being nominated.

      Have a lovely weekend !

  3. What a wonderful working holiday. It must have been awesome to be able to get up close and personal with so many critters without a barrier to separate you. I hope no spiders didn’t crawl all over you while you

  4. Oh, the spiders would keep me up at night. Lovely images of a place i always wanted to visit. Wonderful interview of your adventure. I like your underwater shots. I don’t dive, but wish I had the courage. Snorkeling is all that I can muster and even then I have my problems going below.

    • I was hidden under two mosquitoes nets, so I felt more safe. I wouldn’t have been able to sleep in the open air ;-)

Snorkeling is very good, most of things are not very deep so you can see them with a tuba and some fins :-)

  5. I want to know everything there is to know about Galápagos Islands, it is definitely on my wish list. And very high up there as well:) A great post you have my travel monkey! I love that you recommend travelling around in your own pace with using the ferry system. I love independent travel. Much more prefer it over going with agencies:)

    • At that time, the ferry between islands was 25$ per person for one way, it was not that expensive, but the sea was extremely rough and the boats extremely small. A lot of people were sick :D

For some places, it’s mandatory you book with a tour agency. Like Floreana island, because you can’t go there by yourself, you have to book a tour, or Bartolomé islands. And for the islands that are very very far away, if you don’t book a cruise, you can’t get there by ferry. You can still visit a lot on your own, which is great, but you will have to book tours as well :-)

  6. I’m going to Galapagos in July for a holiday & then a volunteer programme. Spiders were not something I had thought about but now they are. Still, it is the opportunity of a lifetime & the reason I’ve been learning Spanish for 2 years. Great to read your post.

    • Oh this is awesome !!! You will have an amazing time, I’m sure of that. Take plenty of insect repellents, and long sleeves. This is a must. Because the mosquitoes over there are also biting during the day ;-) Where are you going ? To jatun sacha as well ?

      • Volunteering on Santa Cruz. In shared accommodation but they didn’t mention what the shower etc would be like. I’ve volunteered in a similar situation in a different country before & in that place we shared the house with geckos & cockroaches :)

  7. Oh hence Darwin?
Have you heard of Wallace? He actually “discovered” the natural selection theory earlier than Darwin. ;)
    >Do you like tennis ?
Not really. Badminton is more popular in Malaysia. Boys play badminton, hockey and football. Girls play netball and badminton. We don’t play cricket ;)
    >Or have you ever watch a match during the Wimbledon tournament ?
Yes, but I don’t usually finish the whole match. ;)

    • Yes, I’ve heard about him. Well, Darwin’s theory is slightly different to Wallace’s, even if they are based on a same principle. I’ve read some things saying that Wallace actually sought Darwin’s help to elaborate his theory, but i’m not so sure if it’s true or not ;-)

    • The pictures are not really fabulous, believe me. The quality is awful, and if you click on them, everything is blurred. i had a shitty camera at that time :-) I would love to go back and take nicer pictures haha ! :D

I thank you for them to discover us.
I hope for you that you have not been afraid of spiders ….
    Have a nice day.

  10. I just finished to read. Lovely article, it paints you for what I like to follow your articles: you are not a tourist (which is not bad of course but has a different goal) but an explorer with a curious mind to discover the big world.

  12. Wonderful interview. Galapagos Islands have been on my travel list for quite some time. BUT those spiders??? Yuk! The turtles are a definite draw for me as is the over all beauty. I can see why it’ll remain a special trip to you.

    • Don’t worry, as a regular tourist, I don’t think you will go to the jungle. You will stay on wonderful beaches ;-) So… little risk of meeting them :-) And yes, seeing the turtles and be able to swim with them was something very special :-)
